I've been waiting for you to post some photos from this race meeting. Thanks for these, they're great. I had an old friend who lived near Motherwell who was a great Bob Mac fan. He always went to the memorial meeting but sadly passed away last year aged 91. He left all his race programmes, photos and books to me, hence my recent popst on Bob MacIntyre.
Hi BCB. Sorry to hear of the passing of yr friend. What was his name? My father, or more probably Bill Cadger might have known him.Nice piece on Bob Mac. That he intended to probably retire makes his fate that bit sadder for me.There will be more photos up over the weekend. p.s. My old man is the one getting his race kit on and riding/pushing the No 44 350 Ducati. He was out in one of the parades, but it's been 25 years since he last raced and his first outing on the new bike. I think it's peakiness took him by surprise and he stalled it at the hairpin on the 2nd lap.
My old friends name was Cliff Bone, he was originally from Cumbria but had lived in Wishaw since he moved up to work in the steelworks a long time ago. He was a long-time member of the SCMRC and followed the racing with a passion right up until the end. I met him when I was writing a book on Speedway in North West as he was in the crowd at Workington and Whitehaven in the 1930s and was a very close friend of Mo and Rol Stobbart.
